Leningrad Oblast Governor Election: Trying New Technologies
|
Many candidates in the race for the post of Leningrad Oblast governor do not conceal
the fact that they intend to run for the State Duma of the Russian Federation in
December.
Gubernatorial elections allow them to try new election technologies and assess their chances. This is why the money spent on the campaign (which amounts to hundreds of thousands of US Dollars in the federal race) will not be wasted even if they lose. Regional campaign offices do not disclose the amounts which they get for campaign purposes. Here we are talking big money. Opinion poll leaders go over the prescribed limits of their election money, and political advertisement is paid for by companies and organizations which are interested in having their candidate elected. Elections have become purely technological and they are managed by professional teams, most of which come from Moscow. They prefer to spend the money the way they want, not thinking about savings. Sources tell Delovoi Peterburg that one election bloc paid $20 thousand to print 100,000 copies of a four page paper. Printing the same number of copies in a local publishing house would cost some 5-6 times less. Delovoi Petersburg |
